Rabat Travel Guide

The city is located on the Atlantic Ocean at the mouth of the river Bou Regreg. On the facing shore of the river lies Salé, Rabat's bedroom community. Tourism and the presence of all foreign embassies serve to make Rabat the second most important city in the country.

About Rabat

Rabat covers an area of 102.9 sq. miles (278.6 sq. Km) and is estimated to have a population of 1.7 million people being the capital of the Kingdom of Morocco. It is also the capital of the Rabat-Salé-Zemmour-Zaer region.

Royal Hotel

Located conveniently between Rabat Ville station and the medina, the recently refurbished Royal is the best in this price range. All the rooms are bright and airy, with simple furnishings, white walls, tiled floors, and large windows overlooking either the shaded street or Triangle de Vue park. There’s plenty of floor space for luggage, and the bathrooms are modern with walk-in showers. Red-carpeted steps lead to a small reception area, where English-speaking Jamal Bouhouch is usually on hand to welcome guests. The Mediterranean-style in-house restaurant is accessed from here, and is open for all meals, though I recommend it only for the included breakfast.
